El gobierno egipcio trabaja hoy en una estrategia para impulsar el crecimiento del turismo que oscile de 25 a 30 por ciento anual, reveló el ministro del sector, Ahmed Eissa.
Citado por el diario Al Ahram, el funcionario resaltó la importancia del plan nacional para desarrollar la llamada industria sin chimeneas, clave en la economía de este país norafricano.
Al respecto, destacó el aumento del número de vuelos desde y hacia Egipto, como parte del proyecto para elevar la cantidad de visitantes.
Llamó a empoderar a las empresas turísticas egipcias, los operadores, los guías y otros socios del sector.
A principios de mes, el ministro reveló que el país espera recibir a 15 millones de visitantes en 2023, un crecimiento de 28 por ciento interanual.
Sobre el tema, detalló que la entrada de turistas en enero y febrero últimos aumentó 35 por ciento.
A principios de año, la calificadora Fitch estimó que más de 52 millones de personas llegarán a Egipto en los próximos cuatro años.
Según el análisis, en 2023 arribarán unos 11,5 millones de visitantes, cifra que aumentará a 13 millones en 2024, a 13,5 millones en 2025 y a 14 millones en 2026.
El sostenido incremento a mediano plazo se debe a la disminución prevista en los efectos de la pandemia de la Covid-19 y del conflicto en Ucrania, subrayó.
Recientemente, la ministra de Planificación y Desarrollo Económico, Hala El-Said, reveló que el Gobierno invertirá casi 300 millones de dólares en el turismo en el actual año fiscal 2022-2023.
Señaló que el número de turistas aumentó de 3,7 millones en 2020, año marcado por la pandemia de la Covid-19, a ocho millones en 2021.
También los ingresos crecieron de 4,1 mil millones a 9,0 mil millones de dólares, respectivamente.
El sector representó hasta el 15 por ciento del Producto Interno Bruto nacional antes de la pandemia de la Covid-19, según datos oficiales.
